Nutrtion/Fitness Project for Health 2

We will be spending the next 4 days in the computer lab working on a Nutrition and Fitness project.  You will be completing this project in the computer lab and turning it in all together- typed and organized. You will email me your project by Wednesday, March 19th.

The following are the requirements:



1.    You will keep track of everything you eat for one day- all meals including snacks and drinks.  You will calculate your total calorie and fat intake for the day (include Trans Fat, Saturated Fat, and Unsaturated Fat levels). (15pts)


2.  Design one full day (breakfast, lunch, dinner, 2 snacks, and drinks) of healthy meals for yourself.  You must include the following nutrient levels for each item: carbohydrates, proteins, fats (saturated, unsaturated, and trans fat), sodium, calcium, iron, and Vitamins A and C.  You must also calculate the calories for each item, each meal total, and the daily total.  Keep in mind the number of calories that are recommended for someone of your age and gender, how many ounces of water you should intake, and how many servings of each of the food groups you should intake.(30 pts)

3.  You will choose a fast food restaurant and pick a meal that includes a side, drink, and entree.  Calculate the total calories, carbohydrates, protein, fats (saturated, unsaturated, and trans fats), sodium, calcium, iron, and Vitamins A and C.  You will also choose a “healthy choice” from the same restaurant and complete the same nutrient calculations. 15 pts)


4.     You will choose one of the eating disorders we covered in class and describe its symptoms, health problems, and find a treatment facility that specializes in the disorder.  DO NOT CUT AND PASTE!  Put the information you find into your own words. (15 pts)


5.     You will design a one-day warm-up, workout, and cool down for a person of your weight that will burn 500-800 calories.  Be specific about what activity and what stretches (don't just say stretch for 5 minutes) . (25 pts)
